Unveiling the new Google Pixel 7a
Posted by iCoverLover on May 19, 2023
The highly anticipated Pixel 7a smartphone was officially unveiled at this year's Google I/O 2023 conference. As expected, the new device is based on the Google Tensor G2 mobile processor, which can easily handle even the most demanding tasks. It features eight gigabytes of system memory and 128 gigabytes of storage space. The display is an OLED screen with a 6.1-inch (15.5-centimetre) diagonal and a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels, with a refresh rate of 90 hertz.
The Google Pixel 7a has a more than decent legacy to follow. For years, we’ve considered the 'a' series from Google a brilliant handset, one trumped only by the older siblings in its number range. The Google Pixel 6a, for example, was the budget version of the Google Pixel 6 and the Google Pixel 6 Pro. With the Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro having been out in the market since October, the 7a is the last edition in the '7' range, offering a cheaper alternative to the other two.
Camera
One of the notable improvements for consumers is the camera quality. The 7a features a 64MP (wide) and 13MP (ultrawide) camera, which is an upgrade from the 12.2MP cameras in its predecessors. The design of the rear camera system is also visibly different, resembling that of the Pixel 7 models.
Features
In terms of features, the Pixel 7a offers all the camera features available on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. Additionally, the 'a' series allows users to unlock the device using facial recognition, and Google's VPN service is available as standard.
The software remains the same, the hardware is similar, and the user experience doesn't change much.
Price
The Google Pixel 7a is priced at AUD 749. The Pixel 7 ranges from AUD 999 to AUD 1,129, and the Pixel 7 Pro ranges from AUD 1,299 to AUD 1,599. For AUD 850 less, the 7a will provide you with many of the features offered by the company's flagships.
